Chimney Sweep & Repair in Santa Barbara

Spanish revival chimneys, sundowner winds and real fire exposure.

Chimney service built around Santa Barbara homes

Santa Barbara combines historically significant Spanish Colonial Revival architecture with genuine wildfire exposure along the foothills — which means our work here has to be both cosmetically faithful and code-strict.

The Riviera, Mission Canyon and Montecito border homes are full of 1920s Spanish revival chimneys with stucco over unreinforced brick and decorative clay caps. Beachside properties on the Mesa and in Funk Zone-adjacent neighborhoods fight salt corrosion. Newer Goleta-side construction is largely prefab and direct-vent.

Sundowner winds coming down the Santa Ynez range reverse drafts and carry embers into dry brush. Every foothill chimney we finish gets a listed, ember-resistant spark arrestor, and we check the flue's clearance from overhanging oak and chaparral while we are on the roof.

What we do most often in Santa Barbara

  • Spanish revival chimney restoration and stucco matching
  • Ember-resistant spark arrestor installation
  • Unreinforced masonry evaluation and bracing
  • Coastal stainless cap and flashing replacement

Santa Barbara chimney questions, answered

Will you preserve the look of my historic Spanish chimney?

Yes. We match stucco texture, color and profile, and where original clay detail exists we reuse or replicate it. The structure gets modern, code-compliant internals while the street view stays true to the house.

Do foothill homes need a specific spark arrestor?

Yes. Properties in and near the state fire hazard zones need a listed arrestor with mesh no larger than 1/2 inch, securely attached and in good repair. We install it and give you dated photos for your insurer.

Why does my fireplace back-smoke during sundowners?

Downslope wind pressurizes the flue and reverses the draft. A wind-directional cap almost always fixes it, and we verify draft with a smoke test before we leave.

Do you serve Montecito, Carpinteria and Goleta?

Yes, along with Summerland, Hope Ranch and the Santa Ynez Valley communities over the pass.
